Course Module 3 : OPEX Alignment and Improvement

The OPEX Alignment and Improvement course enables a wide understanding of horizontal and vertical alignment of processes, work flows, plans, strategic objectives and the continuous improvement cycle through systematic problem identification and resolution in a manufacturing set up.
Course Structure
The OPEX Alignment and Improvement comprises of three sub-modules:
Sub-Module 3-1 : Little’s Law and Concept of Utilization - This sub-module enables learning on the concept of Utilization and its importance in identifying the resource bottleneck in an unconventional manner. Little’s Law explains the relationship between WIP(Work in progress), Process Time and Throughput Rate. The theoretical learnings are reinforced through numerical problems for practical application on the shop floor. By the end of this course you will learn:

Sub-Module 3-2 : Hoshin Kanri and Balanced Scorecard - This sub-module enables learning on implementing Hoshin Kanri and Balanced Scorecard as holistic tools for strategy development and its deployment in the organization. The course begins with introduction to the key elements of Hoshin Kanri followed by the explanation of Policy deployment tools Matrix. A detailed explanation of Balanced Score card approach is followed by sharing the process of generating Key Performance Indices. The course ends after disseminating the Policy Deployment Review Process. A case example of Balanced Scorecard for a shirt manufacturing unit is given to enhance the understanding. By the end of this course you will learn to:

Sub-Module 3-3 : A3 Problem Solving - This sub-module enables learning on the A3 Problem Solving approach, developed by Toyota Motors, and the development of the A3 Problem solving report. The course begins by explaining the different sections of A3 problem solving report, followed by detailed explanation of the contents in each section through a case study. Guidelines to fill each section and the exit gate questions before moving to the succeeding sections of the report are explained in detail. You will also be able to download the A3 problem solving template from the resource section of this tutorial. By the end of this course you shall learn to:
