The OPEX Flow & Pull course enables a deep learning of efficient process management and work practices. The concepts lay a strong foundation to establish Flow and Pull systems across the manufacturing floor.
Course Structure
The OPEX Flow & Pull course comprises of three sub-modules:
Sub-Module 2-1 : Value Stream Mapping - This sub moduleenables learning on deployment of Value Stream Mapping for eliminating waste from the processes.
The course begins by introducing VSM, followed by characteristics of VSM and the Value stream mapping processes in general. It then discusses product family matrix, Key Performance Indices, VSM icons, steps to implement VSM, “AS IS” process maps and asking the key questions before creating a “TO BE” Map. We round-off the learning by creating a implementation plan to eliminate waste that has been identified during the Value Stream Mapping process. By the end of this course you will learn:
Learning Time: 90 -120 minutes (approximately)
Sub-Module 2-2 : Kanban Systems – This sub-module enables learning on the deployment of Kanban systems in their entirety.
The course starts by distinguishing between Push and Pull Production Systems, followed by an overview of Kanban systems and its importance in Pull Production Systems. Supermarkets, Kanban rules and Type of Kanban cards are explained in detail that give us an overall flavour of Kanban systems. This is followed by information on the linkage between supermarkets, Kanban boards and Production process followed by explanation of Kanban boards and their functionality. The Formula to compute the number of Kanban cards provides an understanding of Kanban requirements study worksheet. The course ends by answering frequently asked questions about Kanban. By the end of this course you will learn:
Learning Time: 90 -120 minutes (approximately)
Sub-Module 2-3 : Skills Management – This sub module enables learning on Skills management and associated tools and techniques as specially applicable to functions across manufacturing units.
The course begins with purpose of Skill Management followed by explaining tools and techniques like Skills Matrix and Skills Development Chart. It uses a multi-step process to determine and closing the skills deficit in a typical factory and includes Guidelines on how to fill the Skills Development Plan Template through a case study. By the end of this course you will learn to:
Learning Time: 45 -60 minutes (approximately)
