Course Objective

Assessment is usually considered to be a final and often dreaded test on the basis of which a grade is awarded. However, thoughtfully addressed assessment can be less intimidating and can be used as a teaching tool, as well as a testing tool. This course looks at a number of assessment practices that can be used to accomplish this broader concept of testing. This is an introductory level course. Topics: 1. What is Assessment? 2. Goals of Assessments 3. Summative Assessment 4. Formative Assessment 5. The No Nos of Assessment

The course is delivered over internet.  You must complete the enrollment process before you can access the course.

Mrs Marie Cashion

Marie is an educational visionary whose work as a teacher, researcher, trainer, and consultant has spanned three continents and many cultures, beginning in the K-12 schools of Boston and continuing through to the Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). She is actively engaged in teaching Special Education and Inclusionary Practices to teachers in Trinidad and Tobago through UNB’s Educator Development Program. In 2007, sponsored by Canadian NGO Help Lesotho, Marie traveled to Lesotho to conduct an extensive needs assessment of schools. As a member of UNB’s Faculty of Education, Marie has served as Acting Dean of Education, Chair of the Department of Educational Foundations, Professor of Education, and Director of the Learning Centre.
