Fundamental Learning Tools

Study Material, Tests, and Assignments are the most basic learning tools.

Collaborative Learning Tools

Forum, Ask-Teacher, Net-meeting, and Chat are part of collaborative learning.

Additionally

Program Manager may have mentioned other learning assets like text books, reference books or other external material that may help you in your learning activity. External learning assets have to be procured by the learner separately and are not included as standard deliverable in the e-learning course.

'Study Material' consists of different course contents which you are supposed to study in the course.

Content Types

Content types could be varied - documents, audio-visual presentations, audios or videos.

Viewing Modes

Except downloadable documents, all other contents will have to be viewed online.

Most courses will have online tests.

  • Tests are meant either for checking your exam preparedness or for actual examination.
  • Tests marked 'Practice' are for checking your exam preparedness.
  • Tests marked 'Exam' are for real examination. If there is a score card set by the course provider, then scores of tests marked 'Exam' are counted.
  • Tests may draw questions from single subject or multiple subjects.
  • Some tests may have deadlines or access window for attempting them; others may be accessible any time.
  • Every test has a duration within which the test needs to be completed. Tests must be 'Submitted' after completion; otherwise they will not be evaluated.
  • Some tests may have negative marking.

Some courses may have assignment submission as a part of your learning process.

  • Assignments are meant either for checking your learning comprehension or for actual examination. They are evaluated by teachers.
  • Assignments marked 'Practice' are for checking your learning comprehension.
  • Assignments marked 'Exam' are considered a part of real examination. If there is a score card set by the course provider, then scores of assignments marked 'Exam' are counted.

'Ask-Teacher' and 'Chat' for doubt clearance

'Private Forums' for in-house discussions

'Mentoring' for timely expert guidance

Some courses may have a learning plan, some may not have.

A learning plan gives you a time-line to study the course having different activities laid out as per a pre-defined schedule.
Long duration courses may not have a learning plan. In such cases, all learning tools are available without a firm schedule.
Some learning plans may have been designed to prevent or allow extra access to certain parts of the course based on specific criteria.

Reports and Analytics update you about your learning outcomes; use these for self-evaluation and for future action plan.
